What is a barcode?
A barcode is a visual image of data which shows certain information on products. The image consists of black lines and white spaces. The white spaces are just as important as the lines because their widths or quantity represent data.
There are 2 types of barcodes, 1D (1 dimensional) and 2D (2 dimensional). 2D barcodes use patterns of dots, squares or other geometry which is termed "symbologies".
Most popular barcode however, is the 1D.
Barcode scanners or barcode readers are used to scan the barcode and relay the information back to the database where the computer matches the code to the item or information it has instore. Premier Markings has many good scanners and barcode equipment that we tested over the years and know which ones work best.
To print barcodes for inventory or shipping, thermal printers or barcode printers are used. Heat is applied to a thermal ribbon and transfered onto a blank thermal label that correctly identifies the product. Premier Markings uses special adhesive to our thermal labels so they are guaranteed not to fall off and lose vital information. Thermal labels come in many different shapes and sizes depending on your product and Premier Markings has all sizes and different materials for every type of application.

Label software makes it easy to print barcodes for yourself and will correctly be scanned and identified by others. We at Premier Markings, sell software that will aid you and provide personal training for you to manage it when you purchase.
