So you want to start thermal printing?
There are a few question you will need to ask to ensure you get the right equipment for you application.
How many thermal labels will you print in a day?
This will determine how much you should spend for a printer. Industrial thermal printers are manufactured at different levels of output and their components are made to match. There is no need to get a high volume printer if you're going to print a few labels a day.
How many thermal labels will you be printing at one time?
You may require a label winder or to have you labels fan folded. There is no point to have a person rewindering labels at the end of a thermal printer.
Do you require label printing software?
Today's thermal printers come with MS Windows drives and you can print right from word. Label printing software is great for bar coding, numbering and organizing data bases as well.
What size of label do you require?
This will determine what width of your thermal printer you require. 4" and 6" wide outputs are a standard thermal printer dimensions.
Will your thermal labels be going outside and how long do they need to last?
If your labels will be subjected to the elements standard paper and wax ribbons just won't do. We will recommend the label stock and matching ribbon to stand up to the most extreme conditions. As well UL and CSA recognized label and ribbon combinations.
